A big moment in my training happened today. For the first time in my life I ran more than two miles, I even ran more than three! I decided to run a 5k today and finished with a time of 24:42, not too bad when you think that I have to run an 8k for the triathlon. 8 minute miles are not too shabby, I can live with that, eventhough I would like to get that time down to a 7:15 mile which would mean I would be running a 36:15 five mile time. I may even run 4 miles tomorrow...I guess we will see won't we. Until I post again, peace.

So, it has been way too long since my last post: January 11th. Since then my my life has been like that of a rollercoaster. My last post had me down in a valley with a huge hill to climb, but I sped past that obstacle. Right now I am in 10th week of winter quarter, only 8 days until I will be done with 2/3 of my undergraduate career!! I have soo much work to accomplish in this time but I can get it done. A bit of an administrative info: My blog will now take a form of one KSmith. KSmith is a brother of mine who is training for the Ironman triathlon. While reading his blog I was inspired to blog my triathlon training as well. The race I am training for is the Terre Haute Triathlon. This race involves a 800 meter swim followed by a 40 km bike and finishes with an 8 km run. I have been training for a week now and I have already seen much improvement. I have my 2 mile time down under 15 minutes, as fast as it was in high school. I know this doesn't sound to fast, as most good runners can finish a 5k in under 20 minutes but I (read) don't run. The bike is my strong point, a 40 km bike route isn't that hard for me to put out. The hardest part of my training has been the swim. I have swam a few times in the last week to build endurance and I know with enough work a half-mile swim is very doable. I'll try and update often but don't expect much until March when I'm on break (great training time) and away from Rose for awhile. It's getting rather late and I have 6 hours of lab tomorrow so I'm outtie. For all you triathletes out there keep up the hard work, we are under 3 months until the big day! Peace be with you.
